WHO WE ARE

Hennessy’s Irish Bar is New Zealand’s favourite Irish bar, right in the heart of Rotorua. We’ve known we sell NZ’s best Guinness for ages; now we have been awarded NZ’s Top Guinness Bar and everyone knows!

Totally rebuilt in 2016 after the building failed earthquake prone building assessment, Hennessy’s is a beautifully designed pub, in the truly Irish tradition with spacious booths and hidden-away private tables. Seating available for small or larger groups. We are proud to cater for business, corporate, social and tour groups, as well as families and individuals.

The menu features a range of hearty pub favourites and is fondly known for serving Rotorua’s favourite Pub food, including traditional fare like bangers & mash, steaks and stews, supported by burgers, sandwiches all fresh and made on-site. We are famous for our delicious seafood chowder. There is a children’s menu; all items under $12. And to complete, we offer a delicious dessert menu including Bailey’s Irish cheesecake and Granny Malone’s bread and butter pudding. All desserts are made fresh on site and also all reasonably priced.

Our team at Hennessy’s work hard to ensure you get both an enjoyable dining experience and the perfect pint every time you walk through the door. 

Hennessy’s has many large TV screens to show live coverage and replays of international and national games including our 70″ screen.

Hennessy’s has also played a major role in hosting the Barmy Army supporting the 2005 British and Irish Lions. We have hosted both supporters and players in the exhaustive 2011 Rugby World Cup. We are also part of a famous urban legend regarding one of Ireland’s most famous sons, the mercurial Brian O’Driscoll, after Ireland played NZ Maori in 2010..
